$1 is a fortune! Help children get an education. For every IKEA soft toy sold between November 1st and December 24th, approximately $1.30 ($1 Euro dollar) will go to IKEA's partners UNICEF and Save the Children's educational programs (16 projects in total) in 14 developing countries around the world. The funds raised during the IKEA 2008 "Soft Toy" campaign will support projects to help improve school facilities, give access to water and sanitation, strengthen the right to education for disabled children, and provide educational supplies like books, pencils and writing pads for children and teachers. Since 2003, our soft toy sales raised a total of $15-million. The goal this year is to raise another $6-million. And last year, U.S. stores lead the IKEA global effort with the highest soft toy sales. The result was over $500,000; this translated into 2,500,000 children who received books and pencils because it takes just one dollar to buy these items for five children.
